Hey, Camp Tel Noar…In Case You Missed It!

  • DSC_0021 Since you last heard from us, so much has happened! Games have been won, CITs have been welcomed and trips have been taken.

Monday and Tuesday were beautiful camp days. Perfect weather allowed for full days of regularly scheduled activities. We spent Monday night celebrating with one of our favorite evening events, Party Excitement Social. PE came in with lights, interactive games, a photo booth and incredible energy and we danced the night away! We had so much fun that night we decided we should do it again, and this time moved the party to our beach. Siagel Productions brought tons of yard games, amazing music and the camp enjoyed the Luau Party on the lake.

IMG_0138Between socials and dance parties, we had the opportunity to show our athletic prowess on the courts and in the pool. Monday our Olim boys brought home the first place trophy from the CYJ Basketball tournament, and on Tuesday we brought home two, read it, TWO first place trophies from the Camp Pembroke Swim Meet. Both our boys and girls placed first at the meet. We could not be prouder of our amazing campers and their CTN pride!

Wednesday morning we woke up to an amazing surprise…Israel Day! Our fantastic shlichim (Israeli counselors) spent the early morning hours decorating and transforming CTN into the beloved country of Israel. We all got to go around to a variety of stations that represented different parts of Israeli culture and different cities. Bunks went to a beach party in Tel Aviv, made pita over an open fire, camped out in the Negev, and even got to experience basic training in the Israeli army. We loved spending time learning about a land we all feel so connected to and the best part…the food! Israeli salad, hummus, homemade falafel, shakshuka and pita was the perfect end to a wonderful morning.

And what better way to complete Israel day then by welcoming back our 43 teens that participated in our Dor L’ Dor Leadership program. For five weeks they have been experiencing Israel with the representatives from Tevya and Pembroke but it was finally time for them to come back to their second home and complete their experience with two weeks at camp. It feels so good to have our camp family finally complete!

Thursday Night was Trip Night, and off we went to Chunky’s with our younger campers, and to Portsmouth with the older. The Oles and Tsofs had a great time watching the Minion movies and relaxing for the night while our Bogs had the chance to walk around Portsmouth and enjoy the beautiful New England town.

DSC_0241Shabbat was filled with spirit and reflection and the Saturday programming was some of the best. Our bunks have been working on different Mitzvot and camp beautification projects and while we got to see the results of last weeks, our groups continued to work on various projects. We almost have a complete set of handmade mezzuzot for our bunks courtesy of our crafty campers but one of the coolest projects that is now complete was a camp-wide one. Together, with the help of every camper, we completed a cover for our bima with a large “tree of life”. Each campers thumb print is one of the leaves on the tree and the result was truly amazing!

It’s so hard to believe that tonight we are preparing to say goodbye to our Taam campers, with just a little over one week remaining in summer 2015. At camp, time exists in a completely different way…a day can feel like a month, but a week can go by in the blink of an eye. That’s why we always tell our campers to cherish every single moment. It won’t last forever, but boy oh boy, do we wish it would.

    From our Family to Yours,

    CTN
