Feels Like Home

  • Dear Tel Noar Families,

With today’s picture perfect weather and blue skies, it is so hard to believe DSC_0647that it was just 2 days ago that we welcomed 285 campers to camp on the first day of camp…it truly feels like we have been together, as a camp family, for weeks. Not only is the weather different today, but the feel of camp is also different. The nervous energy of day one has turned into huge smiles and magical moments. Today, camp is filled with the energy and spirit of our campers as we prepare for our first Shabbat as a community.

So much has happened in the past few days. Friendships have formed, activities have begun and the excitement of Tel Noar is at an all-time high. We have an exceptional staff who could not wait for your children to arrive, and who have already used tools that they learned during orientation week to introduce activities and to build cohesive bunk communities. It has been fantastic to watch our counselor, both new and returning, international and local, step into the role as counselor and care for your kids, as their very own.

DSC_0747On the first night of camp, we hosted our annual department skits. These skits are a great way for our campers to meet our staff and hear about the different activities that they will participate in at Tel Noar. Thursday we enjoyed our first day of activities. Across camp, our kids took part in swimming, archery, fitness, rocketry and, the new favorite…waterpark! Walking around camp, I couldn’t help but smile as kids cheered, staff engaged campers, and everyone walked arm and arm with old and new friends. It was only the first day of camp, but everyone said it felt like we never left. This is truly the best part of camp.

Last night our oldest campers, the Bogrim and Bogrot basked in the light of their first bonfire of the season. The smell of s’mores, the sight of the fire, and the sounds of songs and stories confirmed that summer had truly started. The Tsofim and Tsofot, our middle age group, enjoyed an enthusiastic game of water balloon relays. Olim and Olot loved running around the Dell for Wacky Games, playing bunk charades and silly games. It really was a fabulous night and so much fun to walk from one area of camp to the next watching the different activities and seeing the bunk cohesiveness forming so soon.

Some other highlights include: Bunks 10A and 10B have been writing to their pen DSC_0668pals at Emma Kaufmann Camp. Bunk 18 released wish boat lanterns in the lake on the first night. Grilled cheese has remained a fan favorite. The Tsof and Bog Sampler Platter electives have gotten a taste of the outside world on their first outings. Our first Berry Morning was a HUGE success. Our campers adore the new addition of the waterpark on Sunset Lake. The Pool has been a popular spot to stay cool! S’mores competitions are in full swing for the perfect toasted marshmallow. Tryouts have begun for next week’s Game Day vs. Yavneh!

AND NOW…It’s time to get ready for Shabbat! A welcomed opportunity to relax and reflect on the week that passed. The upcoming seven days promise to be filled with the creation of more camp memories, and we can’t wait to tell you about them in our next newsletter.

    Shabbat Shalom,

Becca & the entire CTN Family
