Camp Tel Noar, a Cohen Camp, is currently hiring staff for the summer of 2017. Camp Tel Noar offers room, board, competitive compensation, workers’ compensation, and the opportunity to spend a fantastic summer with terrific campers and outstanding staff members from around the world. Boys Head Counselor

Leads the boys’ bunk life area for a given age group including mentoring and supporting bunk counselors to promote the positive welfare of the campers, supervising and evaluating staff, communicating with parents/guardians, collaborating with leadership team and department heads, proactively addressing camper and staff interpersonal issues as they arise. Pre-camp preparation is required including Staff Orientation Week. Head Counselors are part of the senior leadership team at camp and report directly to the Camp Director.

Girls Head Counselor

Leads the girls’ bunk life area for a given age group including mentoring and supporting bunk counselors to promote the positive welfare of the campers, supervising and evaluating staff, communicating with parents/guardians, collaborating with leadership team and department heads, proactively addressing camper and staff interpersonal issues as they arise. Pre-camp preparation is required including Staff Orientation Week. Head Counselors are part of the senior leadership team at camp and report directly to the Camp Director.

Assistant to the Program Director

Facilitates the details for evening programming activities, out-of-camp trips, special events and camp-specific projects as assigned. Opportunities to initiate creative programs with bunk staff. Reports to Program Director. Pre-camp preparation is required including staff orientation week. Assistant to the Program Director may also have responsibilities as a bunk counselor.

Head of Jewish Life and Learning

Oversees and implements the curricula for Jewish life and learning, Jewish values, and Israel education throughout camp, develops a focus/theme, supervises staffs who provide age-appropriate teaching about Jewish values and Israel, collaborates with Head of Music, and prepares campers to lead Shabbat services. Additional responsibilities may include collaborating with activity Department Heads to infuse Jewish themes in activities, Bar/Bat Mitzvah tutoring, liaison with Israeli counselor delegation and collaboration in camp’s Jewish Arts Festival presentation. Pre-camp preparation is required including Staff Orientation Week. Reports to Camp Director.

Head of Watersports

Manages and coordinates all water sport activities and instruction including boating, canoeing, sailing, paddle boarding, waterskiing, and wind surfing, supervises the waterfront activity coordinators. Safe and smooth operations of all activities on the lake are key responsibilities for this position. Current American Red Cross lifeguard/first aid/CPR certification is required. Pre-camp preparation is required including Staff Orientation Week. Reports to Program Director.

Head of Athletics

Responsible for all elective and bunk athletic instructional programs, inter-camp competition and tournaments, and Color War competition. Supervises and mentors staff of bunk counselors who instruct groups of campers. Responsible for scheduling staff to cover sports activities, training staff and monitoring ongoing instruction, ensuring proper use of equipment, and maintain equipment in good working order. Pre-camp preparation is required including staff orientation week. Reports to Program Director.

Camp Nurse

Provides first aid care for campers and staff; attending to routine illnesses, injuries and emergencies as one of several nurses on staff. Responsibilities include overseeing the administration of medications to campers and staff, communications with parents about their children, scheduling visits with physicians and outside health care professionals as needed, monitoring overall camp health standards, and maintaining appropriate camp medical records. Nurse works as part of the Health Center team reporting to the Lead Nurse. Position runs for 8-weeks, beginning with Staff Orientation Week.

Bunk/Specialty Counselors

Live in a bunk with 10-16 campers and 2-3 other counselors and also contribute to a specific department area.
