Unpacking after a Winter Away
Remember how it felt to open up those boxes/trunks/duffle bags from last summer to take a peek at your “camp” towels and sheets, trip-tees, shower caddies and shoe bags that you put away from last summer? Even though that was a few weeks (or days!) ago, I know it makes this upcoming summer feel that much more REAL. It’s almost here, and we’re hard at work here at camp unpacking for summer too!
Our “camp duffle bag” includes boats, docks, picnic tables, bunk beds, cubbies, welcome signs, flower pots, office files and more! You know the old saying “It takes a village…” Well it sure does to get camp ready for all of our excited campers. Our support staff is a very important part of our camp community, and they are the first to arrive to help us unpack.
Representing cities and towns in Mexico and Hungary, as well as Derry, Chester and right here in Hampstead, NH, the crews have split into teams to divide and conquer. Several staff are are returning for their second, third, and even twelfth seasons. It’s like the “first” first day of camp when they arrive back here to settle in — but even though they’re back to work, they miss their camp friends, and can’t wait for the rest of the staff and campers to arrive.
