Meet the Team

  • Summer 2013 is right around the corner…I’m excited to introduce the team responsible for making Camp Tel Noar the AMAZING place that it is!  Questions during the summer?  We’re happy to help!  Reach us at summeroffice@camptelnoar.org

Amanda Charson – Special Programs Director

Camp Tel Noar 7-19-12Hi CTN, I’m Amanda from Boca Raton, FL. My love for camp began many years ago as a Camp Danbee girl in Western Massachusetts. I spent 10 summers as a camper and counselor at Danbee before I had the opportunity to become Special Programs Director for Camp Tel Noar. While at Danbee I specialized in teaching waterskiing and wakeboarding, driving the ski boat and working as Pool Director.

In addition to working at camp I have also worked as a USY Youth Director for four years at Temple Beth Ahm in Cooper City, FL. As a Youth Director I planned many programs related to Judaism and the Jewish traditions.

Currently I teach high school AP U.S. Government & History at Boca Raton Community High School. I teach the best kids in the entire school and absolutely love what I do. I also have the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and the beach all year round, which makes living and working in South Florida much more pleasant. My spare time is usually spent with my very large family and my dog Snuffy!

I am really looking forward to my third summer at Camp Tel Noar! See you all very soon.

I am Lee Krasnoo and I grew up in Wayland, Massachusetts.  I have been involved in camping for over twenty-five years.  Most of my camping experience was at a YMCA overnight camp  in Central Massachusetts, where I was  a camper, counselor and senior staff member.  I’ve also worked for a travel camp helping to lead teens throught the Western United States and Canada.  In 1999, I returned to my alma mater, Wayland High School,  as a Latin Teacher.  When not in the classroom, I serve as an assistant wrestling coach and co-advisor for the class of 2015.  This is my first summer at CTN and I am very excited to join the long tradition there and be a part of the Tel Noar Family!

    Sharon Lasky– Girls’ Head Counselor

I will be rejoining the Tel Noar Team this summer for my 43rd summer! Having started at camp at a CAT and practically growing up there, I can’t wait to share all of the spirit and traditions of CTN with your son or daughter. I live ten months for two, but during the other ten I spent my time teaching in the Plymouth Schools. I am officially retiring after the 2012-13 school year and am looking forward to spending more time with my husband Jerry.

It is with GREAT enthusiasm that I am returning to beautiful Camp Tel Noar for my 3rd summer as Boy’s Head Counselor. Taking last year off made me realize how truly special a place Tel Noar is, and how much I missed tremendously everyone & everything about the camp. I absolutely cherish the opportunity to once again work side by side with the AMAZING Sharon Lasky. The entire CTN staff is remarkable and under the guidance of director Molly Lourie Butter, the 2013 summer will be the very best yet.

I am a former camper and leader at YMCA Camp Belknap located in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. A graduate of Syracuse University, I earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Communications. Upon graduation, I interned with the Boston Celtics basketball organization in their Public Relations department. My love for sports eventually led me to WSBK-TV 38/WBZ –TV4 where I worked as an assistant sports director for 15 years. Always wanting to work with children, I went back to school in 2008 and earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Lesley University. I am currently teaching in my hometown of Plymouth Massachusetts. I have been married to my beautiful wife Jane for 11 years and we have two wonderful dogs, Frankie & Mia, who look forward to visiting often during the summer.

    Karen Robinson– Staff Development Coordinator

Hi! My name is Karen Robinson and I am the Staff Development Coordinator at Camp Tel Noar. This summer will be my fourth summerCamp Tel Noar 7-19-12 at CTN. For the past three years, I have worked as the Assistant Girls and Boys head counselor, and I loved getting to know both the campers and the staff over the summer. This summer, I am thrilled to be working with the staff on training and development and bringing our entire staff together to be the very best CTN leaders we can be. As a child, I attended both Tel Noar and Pembroke (another Cohen Camp), and my parents worked for many years at the Cohen Camps. Camping is truly a “family-affair” for our family!

During the school year, I’m a veteran stay-at home mom, and CEO of the Robinson family, serving our family of 5 for the past 10 1/2 years. We live in Marblehead, MA and are true “Headers” enjoying the beach, small-town living and even the nearby mountains that living on the North Shore grants us. I have been married to my husband Seth for 13 years, and we have three daughters: Abby, age 10 1/2 (Bunk 11, 2013!), Emma, age 9 (bunk 9, 2013!), Sophie, age 6 (part-time bunk 9er, 2013!) and a 5-month old puppy, Bailey.

I love kids… my kids, your kids, camp kids… Some might even say I am a big kid myself. I love being at camp and watching children develop, learn, explore, advance and thrive in the Summer camp environment. I truly believe it is a privilege to watch our campers experience camp as they do at CTN. There simply is no better place to be for the summer months.

What else do I love besides camp? I love being active, skiing, the outdoors, snuggling on the couch, catching up with friends, baking and being a soccer and dance mom. I also represent a small clothing line called Butterflies and Zebras (a Tel Noar connection!) which allows me a few hours a week to concentrate on fashion, which is another passion I try to find time for! In the future, I’d love to explore becoming a Life Coach, so we’ll see where that takes me!

    Leah Sheikowitz–  Daily Program Director

    Leah

Leah and her children Anna and Daniel

My name is Leah and my first summer at sleepaway camp was 30 years ago.  I started as a camper at age 8, and haven’t looked back since!  From camper to counselor to administrator, I have worked in many roles at a few different camps in the Northeast.  I am looking forward to being back at Tel Noar again this summer.  I was the Program Director in 2009 and 2010.  Now I will be returning as the Program Director in charge of daily programming.

My children – Anna, 5 and Daniel, 3 – will be spending the summer with me at camp.  My husband Russ will join us on the weekends.  We also have a 9 month old Bassett Hound named Ozzie.

During the school year, I teach band and music technology to middle school and high school students.  I am a classically trained trumpet player.  I also spent 10 years as a high school softball and soccer coach.  In my free time I enjoy knitting, sports, music and spending time with my family.

Jewish camping is a passion of mine and I can’t wait to be back at Tel Noar to share my love of camp with all of you!
