Water Sports

On opening day, each camper is tested to assess swimming level for classes and to determine what new techniques they should learn and practice, and eligibility for specific water activities. Activities available are:

Instructional and recreational swimming for all campers.

Boating & canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, and water-skiing.

Opportunity to participate in Competitive swimming at Camp Tel Noar’s “water carnival” and Camp Pembroke’s inter-camp swim meet.

Campers who will be age 15 by the end of the camp season and have completed all Red Cross swim levels may participate in certified Lifeguard training.

The waterfront also includes a beach volleyball court and the popular fishing program elective.


Waterfront staff members are American Red Cross trained and certified in one or more of the following: Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, and Water Safety Instruction. Waterfront instructors are also involved in ongoing training to learn teaching techniques and the latest safety management skills.
