Camp Staff Playing in the Sand

Staff

The Tel Noar staff prides itself on being role models and having positive influences – coaching campers to reach their ultimate potential while enjoying team play and developing skills; fostering the growth and character development of each child; and developing cooperation, self-reliance and a true regard for others. After each summer, Tel Noar campers return to their communities and put the values they learn at camp into practice.

The administrative and supervisory personnel are camping professionals and educators with many years of experience working with children. Staff members are chosen for their maturity, creativity, and sense of responsibility. Many members of our staff are former Tel Noar campers and most counselors have activity responsibilities as well as bunk responsibilities. They are young enough in spirit to be friendly companions to the campers, but mature and experienced enough to be able to give guidance and direction.

Our staff is subjected to a thorough hiring process including an extensive interview and reference checks. All staff undergo a review of criminal (CORI) and sex offender (SORI) records to help ensure that contracted staff is appropriate for serving in their positions.

Camp Tel Noar and the Cohen Foundation are dedicated to the continuing education and development of its entire staff. Throughout the winter months our senior staff participates in a variety of child development, camping, staffing, and safety seminars and conferences. Our summer counselor staff attend a week long Staff Orientation, in addition to individual specialty training to improve teaching skills. Ongoing training continues throughout the summer with seminars and a weekly staff meeting.
