January 2009

Dear Friends and Families,

With the turn of the calendar into the new year, Summer 2009 doesn’t feel so far off anymore. I have recently returned to the office full-time after maternity leave and have been enjoying being in touch with our camp families and many of our staff. I am thrilled to report the large numbers of returning campers and returning staff, and their excitement about the summer is contagious. I hope to give you more specific information about returning staff in an upcoming newsletter (check back soon!).

Camp has been closed down for the winter for some time now, and seems to be weathering the recent snow and ice storms well. Sunset Lake is frozen clear across and the ice fisherman and snow mobilers have been taking full advantage of the winter sport it offers.; Although the buildings are closed, we have been busy making repairs and improvements all over camp in anticipation of the upcoming season. For example, we have repaired and replaced several roofs on the bunks and other buildings, and refinished all the bunk floors.

We’re already busy working on the programs for 2009. We’ve set the dates for all the inter-camp programs such as tournaments and game days, and started to schedule our favorite guest entertainers and trips. I’m excited to report that this summer, it is Camp Tel Noar’s turn to host the Jewish Arts Festival – a celebration of song and dance by camp troupes from all of the New England Jewish Camps. This special honor only happens once every five years or so and we’ve been anticipating its return to CTN.

On a personal note, our daughter Shana is getting bigger every day and has already expressed excitement in being CTN’s youngest camper this summer. Every time we mention camp she smiles and giggles…who wouldn’t?!? She can’t wait to see many of you again, and to meet those of you she hasn’t had the opportunity to yet.

We’re counting down the days until Summer 2009…what have you been doing to pass these ten months until we can return to our summer home? Send me an email or give me a call – I’d love to hear from you, so be in touch!

Until next time,

Molly
